SHEER PRESENTS GRASSLANDS: Mwinga Sinjela’s Afrofuturist Debut at Chashama Gallery
Chashama Gallery at 1155 Avenue of the Americas was transformed into an immersive, colorful landscape for the opening of GRASSLANDS, a solo exhibition by Zambian-born painter Mwinga Sinjela, presented by SHEER and The Formula Collective. The vibrant debut features a striking collection of Afrofuturist works celebrating Black and Queer identities, inspired by Sinjela’s love of science fiction, comics, and animation. With sounds by DJ TMLLLS and a full house of artists, curators, and creatives, the evening offered a dreamlike portal into a liberated future. GRASSLANDS is on view through April 13, 2025.
